Rakesh Srivastava, CPO, is the founder and CEO of Innovative Prosthetics and Orthotics with offices in Omaha, Hastings, and Grand Island, Nebraska. There is an extremely personal dimension to his work, as Rakesh has been an amputee and worn a prosthetic leg for more than 42 years.
Specializing in prosthetics and orthotics, the native of India received his degree from the National Institute of Rehabilitation Training and Research (NIRTAR) in 1995. In 1997, he moved to the United States, attending the University of Nebraska at Kearney (UNK) and earning a master’s degree in 2005. Rakesh completed his residency and soon after became an American Board Certified Prosthetist and Orthotist.
Always looking to embrace innovative practices and new technologies within the industry, Rakesh also holds a certification for working with microprocessor knees, scoliosis bracing, and Cascade DAFOs for Pediatrics, among others.
Serving as Adjunct Faculty at the University of Nebraska at Omaha (UNO), Rakesh is also a member of the University’s research team on the Cyborg Beast program. He is helping to develop an affordable and innovative prosthetic hand that has been created utilizing 3D printing technology.
Rakesh has worked closely with Arumina Sinha, the first woman fitted with a prosthetic limb to successfully undertake a mountain trek, which inspired millions and showcased that anything is possible with proper care. He has also worked with Malvika Iyer, a bomb survivor who is known for her social work and touching stories that went on to affect millions of lives.
Involved with prominent India-based non-profit organizations where he uses his education and time to assist those who may not otherwise have access to the care they need, Rakesh is recognized by his clients and peers for his professionalism, expertise, and quality work.
